Description
Advanced Topics in Surgical and Gynecologic Pathology: A CME Teaching Activity
Course Overview
This comprehensive CME activity provides a multidisciplinary update in surgical pathology, with a special focus on dermatopathology, gynecologic pathology, and central nervous system (CNS) tumors. Featuring expert-led sessions, the course delivers high-yield, case-based insights into both common and diagnostically challenging entities. Emphasis is placed on practical diagnostic strategies, molecular advances, and the latest WHO classification updates.
Designed for practicing pathologists, residents, and fellows, this course supports improved diagnostic accuracy, confidence in handling complex cases, and integration of new classification systems into everyday practice.
Educational Objectives
By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
Apply the latest WHO CNS tumor classification system in diagnostic practice.
Evaluate and classify diffuse gliomas, meningiomas, glial/glioneuronal tumors, and mesenchymal neoplasms.
Recognize diagnostic pitfalls in melanocytic and vascular tumors.
Improve accuracy in interpreting cutaneous soft tissue and inflammatory skin lesions.
Review histologic and molecular updates in gynecologic malignancies.
Identify and classify glandular lesions of the cervix and endometrium.
Navigate challenges in evaluating vulvar, vaginal, and placental pathology.
Improve confidence in intraoperative gynecologic consultations.
Differentiate CNS tumors from non-neoplastic mimics.
Understand evolving molecular pathology in gynecologic and CNS neoplasms.
